Wake schools get more funding for teacher and staff raises!

Today the Wake County Board of Commissioners voted 5-2 to increase funding for Wake County public schools, as part of the 2015-16 County budget. The Commission has been working to reach a compromise that would fund teacher and staff salary increases for up to 3% as well as support the development of educational programs. The 2015-2016 budget awards schools $10 million above the County Manager’s request, which means a 3.65% increase in property tax for Wake County. WakeUP commends the County Commission for their leadership on this issue as it was a difficult discussion to have and a tough decision to make.  Making this investment in our future will keep Wake great!
