School Board approves pay raises for ALL Wake teachers!

The Wake County School Board has finalized their budget for the 2015-2016 school year, including pay raises for all 18,000 employees across the county!  WakeUP pushed for our County Commissioners to approve money for this back in June, and they stepped up to the challenge.  Now the School Board has shown the same leadership by ensuring that all of our educators and support staff are getting raises for the incredible work that they do every day.  Highlights from the approved budget include:

  • Teachers will receive $875 to $3,202 more this school year.
  • Goal is to raise teacher pay to national average by 2020.
  • Three percent increase for support staff (bus drivers, teacher assistants, custodians, cafeteria workers)
  • New teacher salary schedule will be voted on October 20, 2015.

As Wake County public schools continue to grow by thousands of students every year, it’s important that we continue to fund school operations, and pay our teachers well.  Let’s keep up the good work!
