Expanding the Effort to Durham and Orange Counties

In May 2009, the Durham-Orange Friends of Transit (DO! Transit), a sister organization to the Capital Area Friends of Transit, was created for Durham and Orange Counties.  The mission of DO! Transit is to support the development of a multi-modal regional transit system in the Triangle that combines expanded bus service (connecting many small towns), light rail (connecting Chapel Hill, Durham, RTP, Cary and Raleigh) and commuter rail. The Friends of Transit coalitions will be working closely together to pass transit legislation in the NC General Assembly and seek referenda to provide funding for regional transit. Go to the Durham-Orange Friends of Transit website to sign the petition in support of transit.  Help us build public support and political will in Durham and Orange Counties and throughout the Triangle region for a forward-looking transit plan that is convenient, accessible and affordable by encouraging your friends to sign on too.  Then contact your legislators and let them know why transit is important to you!
